In the second half of 2021 ultra short throw projector sales more than doubled in North America. They grew nearly 3X that in 2022. Now it's 2023 and with this level of tremendous growth it's easy to see why Hisense has always focused on maintaining a leadership position when it comes to ultra short throw projection.
That's the reason Hisense announced at CES 2023 in Las Vegas, the upcoming Hisense L9H triple laser ultra short throw projector. The Hisense L9H will be the upgraded version of their very popular Hisense L9G.
Hisense has also announced the upcoming new projectors for 2023: L5H 4K Smart Laser TV, PL1 Laser Cinema, PX2-PRO TriChroma Laser Cinema, and a new Hisense Smart Mini Projector
With this announcement, Hisense's projectors are expected to be some of the first 2023 projectors.
They'll also be including Google TV giving viewers access to more than 700,000+ movies and TV shows, live TV, and 10,000+ apps including Netflix which is often missing as a built in app for ultra short throw projectors.

Bundled 100" Or 120" Ambient Light Rejecting Screen
Like the L9G, the Hisense L9H will be a fixed focus projector and will come bundled with either a 100" or a 120" ultra short throw projector screen. Interestingly they're saying it will be a new high-gain ambient light rejecting screen which would give you a brighter more vibrant image in even well-lit rooms. This is surprising because typically you'd want a negative gain screen with a UST projector to increase ambient light rejection and prevent hotspotting.
What's Different About The New Hisense L9H?
With the Hisense L9H you can expect a number of upgrades over the already powerful L9G. Here are a few of the highlights for this new 2023 projector.
Better Contrast and Deeper Black Levels
One of the main factors holding back its predecessor was the good but not great contrast and black levels that left a lot on the table. The new 2023 Hisense L9H will feature 3,000:1 contrast with deeper blacks than any other Hisense projector. This is a fantastic ratio and will provide phenomenal contrast similar to the Formovie Theater.
Ultra High Speed HDMI Ports (Maybe 2.1 HMDI Port?)
Hisense is promoting "Ultra High Speed HDMI Ports." It's not 100% confirmed but this very likely means that the projector has 2.1 HDMI ports.
If this actually is a ultra short throw projector with a 2.1 HDMI port, it would instantly rocket Hisense to the top of the gaming projector manufacturers. A 2.1 HDMI port would allow for 4K gaming at 120hz which would be a first for any laser TV.
Google TV & Netflix
One of the biggest game changers, is that the L9H will utilize the Google TV system making this a true 4K Smart TV. This will provide owners access to more than 700,000+ movies and TV shows, live TV, and 10,000+ apps. Most importantly it will include Netflix which is often missing as a built in app for ultra short throw projectors that use the Android TV system. The remote even features a dedicated Netflix button.
Built-In TV Tuner
Listen up cord-cutters! The L9H will feature a built-in ATSC 3.0 OTA Tuner which the L9G was lacking. This will allow you to watch TV without needing a cable subscription.
Faster And Improved Connectivity Capabilities
The Hisense L9H features state of the art WiFi 6E giving you the fastest most reliable broadband streaming.
Additionally, this 2023 projector features Airplay 2 allowing for easy casting of content from IOS mobile devices to your projector.
This projector is also CalMAN calibration capable making it easier to calibrate your UST to give you the best picture possible.
Improved Daylight Ultra Short Throw Projector Screen
While we would have like to see the Hisense L9H to feature a variable focus and to be sold without a bundled screen to allow you to pick your own screen size, the new Daylight screens may be something to get excited about. The older version of the Daylight screens left a lot to be desired with a very narrow viewing cone and a lot of reflection hitting the ceiling off the screen surface. This new version is vastly improved. If it actually is a high gain screen, this would be a game changer in the UST marketplace.
