I ordered and set up my Formovie Theater projector along with a ust screen for a theater/media room I am working on installing. I had originally planned to purchase a different ust projector which was a few hundred dollars cheaper but only a single laser. When I discovered the Formovie was a triple laser for just a bit more, I decided to spring for it instead. I ordered from projectorscreen.com as they were $500 cheaper than anywhere else I found this projector offered, including the manufacturer’s website, at the time I ordered. This projector was undoubtedly the right choice for my setup. Picture quality, clarity, and depth of color are incredible. I was worried about brightness as the Formovie Theater has slightly less ANSI lumens than the other projector I was considering. Those concerns were unwarranted as this projector is bright enough to work even with the lights on in the theater room. The only drawback I have experienced with the projector so far is the setup. It really isn’t too bad but it did take me a few minutes to get it aligned, focused, and get the keystone adjustments made. It may be very simple to someone more familiar with projector setup than myself but this is my first good quality projector. Also it may be easier to set up if you have an android phone, as it does give the option to set up using your android phone but I have an apple. As far as delivery, I did have to wait about a month from placing the order before receiving the projector. That is not any fault of the projector or distributor as the projectors were apparently held up clearing customs. Projectorscreen.com provided an (accurate) 4-6 week ETA at the time of order. They also informed me via email when the projectors cleared customs and again when it shipped. SUMMARY PROS Picture quality Brightness Price for a triple laser (especially from projectorscreen.com) CONS Setup leaves a bit to be desired Took a while to arrive Overall I am happy with this purchase and look forward to years of family movie nights and sports watching parties with this projector!
We have had the Formovie for three weeks. The projector is being used with a 110 inch Vividstorm floor rising screen. It is on the floor since we are waiting for our Vividstorm cabinet to be delivered. The screen is directly in front of a large picture window. There are two side windows in the room. The picture greatly exceeds my expectation. The attached picture of Avatar 2 has all the windows open. It is brighter in the daylight than I had thought it would be. The 4K picture is absolutely amazing. The built in audio system works very well. At times there is definitely a surround sound feeling to it. For movies we use a 20 year old M&K sound system and lower the shades (recently installed from The Shade Store). It feels as if are in a movie theater.Switching between the Yamaha receiver and the internal speakers only takes turning the receiver off. I have not figured out how to start the Formovie without the receiver (connected through eArc) turning on. I use Alexa to turn the receiver off.A few issues. A very simple remote with no backlighting. The remote is Bluetooth only which means we cannot use our Comcast RF remote to turn the Formovie on/off. The volume works through the Comcast remote probably through the HDMI connection. I have installed an Android remote app on my phone in case we misplace the remote. There no Alexa capability built in- only Google. This is really not acceptable. We have to completely power down the Formovie for the Vividstorm power dongle to work correctly. If we put the Formovie in standby the screen will rise and lower sporadically. However by powering down, there does not seem to be a way to automatically start it up on HDMI1 (have to hit the Live TV app that is on the home screen). These complaints are minor since the picture is so good.
This projector from Formovie lived up to its reviews. The images are outstanding. The setup was simple. There is a youtube video on this projector set up that makes things easy. This is the best TV I've owned and will keep it for years to come. The formovie 100 inch screen is fantastic and easy to put together. Mounting was a bit of a challenge but all is well.
The projector is not bright enough, specially if youre watching 4K Dolby Vision, it DIMS MORE if we are watching even at night time, I dont know why the projector does that. When I bought the projector I'm excited because I can watch on the big screen, knowing that it Formovie won battle of the projector. I expected that I can watch in the big screen with bright vivid, bright and vibrant specially it has 4K Dolby Vision at night but we are NOT HAPPY with the projector. I am going to come back using my OLED TV. If I have a choice to return FormovieI I will do it.
i'm a low-rent audiophile. My equipment is good but not really high end. But i was excited to find a well-reviewed UST projector at a reasonable price. I will leave the fine analysis of color and such to others. Unboxing was simple, as it's the unit, power cord, and remote. The menus are easy to navigate. Because of the 'no-Netflix' issue i had planned from the start to connect it to my Fire Cube. Since we still want to use our 75 inch Samsung for regular viewing, i bought a simple HDMI a/b switch for $15. The Picture is so good that watching old TV shows actually looks worse on the giant screen, but movies are awesome. Also, to get the biggest picture size, i took the short legs off the media center which worked like a charm. Finally, the sound is fine, but i will still be using my Samsung Soundbar for best sound.
