I have had chief mounts before so I did expect it to be sturdy, but the thickness was a surprise. I don't have the projector yet so I made a plywood model for theater layout to make sure it cleared the ceiling fan etc. It needs about 5 inches from the end of the support pipe to the top of the projector. My theater has a sloped open beam ceiling so the 1.5 inch pipe is over two feet long. I had plenty of room but did need to mount the pipe higher than it was to the side of a beam. A low ceiling would have presented a challenge. The included ceiling mount was of no use. I just attached the pipe with through holes and 3D printed a pipe cushion to fit the round pipe to a flat surface. Used threaded inserts so it should easily hold the 50 pound load.
