I've had this projector installed for a couple of months now and I continue to be amazed by its performance! Even though it has a lower contrast ratio than its eShift predecessors, I find the blacks to be plenty deep and the picture incredibly rich. My only gripe is that it takes a long time to switch picture modes (any mode change, like from 2160@60pHDR to 2160@24pHDR or 2160@60pSDR)... about 5-10 seconds. So when you start a Netflix show, it always changes picture modes and you lose the first few seconds on the show! It's a minor annoyance and I still wouldn't trade this projector for anything!
It goes without saying that JVC DILA projectors are some of the best home theater projectors currently in the market. The JVC DLA-NX7 is no exception! Even when used in an environment not the best for projectors (light colored walls/ceilings), the image thrown by the projector is nothing short of spectacular! This along with purchasing it from Brian from ProjectorScreen.com, just made this whole experience a very pleasant one. Brian will go above and beyond to make sure you are completely satisfied with your purchase. Something you will not get when purchasing from large retailers. If you are on the fence on making a large purchase as this one, reach out to Brian. He will definitely walk you through it and get you the best deal in the market. Highly recommend Brian and ProjectorScreen.com!
Lens Shift is best in class. Brightness is very good in a mostly dark dedicated theater room. Contrast is very good. Dialing it in so a person can discern between black clothing in a dark scene has been challenging. (EG - Batman's suit/cape in his cave) Many options to fine tune your image for your specific space. Problem - for a non-professional there is no good resource to maximize the benefits of all the features. This is a little frustrating and hence my 4/5 stars.

This JVC projector represents a solid upgrade over what I have so many of my superlatives should be viewed in that light, but at the same time it doesn't diminish how good this projector performs out of the box. I did my own setup, the mounting plate couldn't have been easier to install. The menu paths are very easy to navigate, within minutes I was able to adjust the orientation, adjust the lens to fit the screen and perform basic focus/zoom tasks. The fully motorized lens was a new treat for me (yes, I had an older projector). Updating the firmware is a breeze as JVC has easy to follow information, it worked exactly as described. About a 20 minute process. The screen I have has a 1.3 gain, in a way the projector doesn't need it...but in my opinion it will allow for two things for my setup. I won't have a need for complete darkness for an exceptional picture plus I won't have to run the projector at full power, thereby extending the lamp life. I will learn more as I start to really dial this in, but I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
