At first I was a little skeptical bc I had just purchased an $80 led projector from Amazon and I was blown away with that. This LS800 is on par with some of the best LG OLED it puts my 55 inch to bed. After some tedious research I finally pullled the trigger on this $2799 purchase over the Black Friday holiday. I am extremely happy. I play a lot of video games and wanted the best of the best when it comes to input lag and this is the best on the market right now. No more of that annoying feeling when someone walks by as this is a UST. I’m currently using a 120 white screen which does not do it justice I’m going to get a motorized ALR ASAP I can see every imperfection with the so called wrinkle free screen $80 from Amazon. If your looking for that wow factor look no further this is it. Setup was alittle challenging but I find it best if you slight let the image go over the borders then walk it back with the keystone and your good to go.

I read a lot about this projector being less than true “4k” but I was very impressed with the image quality. Great colors, sharpness and contrast. Once I tried a 4k movie I was very pleased and happy. It was great. I would highly recommend this projector. It is a bit hard to set up the picture square with the screen but once set it’s amazing.

I originally wanted to purchase a Hisense short throw projector and after placing my order I received a phone call from a gentleman named David Solomon letting me know that it wasn’t available anymore. I was then offered two possible replacements. One was a Formovie short throw projector and the Epson LS800. David was very very helpful with the differences between the two projectors and had all the patience in the world with all my questions both on our phone call and through emails. After hearing what I would mostly be using the projector for, with David’s help, I decided to go with the Epson LS800. The Projector was delivered super quick and setup was a breeze. The most difficult part of everything (if you want to call it difficult) was putting together the 100” Formovie Ambient Light screen that I purchased with the projector. The picture on this projector is unbelievable and I will never look to purchase a normal big screen TV again. I would recommend to anyone to use ProjectorScreen.com for your projector purchase. David made me feel like a customer that he truly cared about helping and should be commended for his customer service….5 STARS all the way around!!!

New Laser TV Owner - Epson LS800

This is my first tv experience larger than 65 inches. I conducted a massive amount of research, leveraging resources like the Laser TV Showdown, Chris Majestic, The Hook Up and others. I appreciate the thoroughness of all their reviews. I was torn between the Formovie Theater, Hisense PX-2 Pro and Epson LS800 - all with their own different advantages. At the end of the day, my needs focused on a non-dedicated theater room with ambient light, so when the Epson LS800 was on sale at projectorscreen.com I decided to go for it, primarily for the high lumen count. You can see my before and after setup below. I am currently using a small stand that I had, but will be upgrading to a better stand that suits the needs of my projector, PS5 and soundbar. I am not using a screen yet, but love the image quality even without it...just displayed on a tan wall.

The setup was extremely easy right out of the box.

I only encountered two issues:
- Reducing blurriness at the top of screen (I struggled to figure this out in the remote settings before finding the physical adjustment lever on the side of the projector, behind the port panel)
- Finding a Netflix solution (I had planned on using a Roku stick, but that didn't seem feasible due to how the stick would not allow me to close the port panel. I ended up using the PS5 for Netflix and was surprised that the Epson remote automatically synched with the PS5 without any effort.)

My setup: 105" image, projector is on a 14" stand, 4.5" from wall, image is 6.5" above the projector. I also love that in the settings you can digitally shrink the size of the image if your space requires a smaller projection.

I am really happy with the Epson LS800 so far and very appreciative of the great insight from the community of experts at projectorscreen.com.

Review from a projector newbie

Disclaimer: this is a review from a projector newbie so take it as you will. But to all the other normies out there looking to upgrade their 55" LED Hisense that you got from Costco 4 years ago, let me be clear: this projector rules.

Firstly - and I know you projector-heads will cringe at this - we're just blasting this thing at a wood-paneled wall (painted white of course, we're not insane). The wall is huge, but has all kinds of seams and paint bumps. We wanted to give this "bare-minimum" setup a chance since we're renters with mid-century modern design flares that a perma-mounted ALR screen would kinda clash with (projector-heads you don't have to keep reading!). When the projector arrived (in less than a week from ordering mind you, coming ground from NJ to CA!) I immediately set it up and turned it on to see the most beautiful License Agreement I've ever laid eyes on. BIG. BRIGHT. I shouted an expletive and then READ THE WHOLE THING. I came to the conclusion that a) we had made a good purchase and b) Epson's terms are reasonable.

I called the wife in and we booted up Seinfeld. Oh my god. GEORGE COSTANZA WAS NEARLY 5 FEET TALL. It was seriously so sick, we were giddy. Yeah there was alignment to take care of during commercial breaks but it wasn't too difficult. I used a laser level to provide a good reference point and shuttled the edges based off that...didn't see that tip online anywhere ya nerds!

I then threw on HDMI 3 which is dedicated for gaming and loaded Super Mario Bros 3. Unbelievable. I felt like Fred Savage's brother in The Wizard. Just massive Mario, so much fun. Split-screen co-op has now become dedicated-screen co-op.

On a constructive note, one thing I wish the project had was controls on the safety shut-off feature. Currently the laser shuts off if you get too close, but it's not sensitive enough in my opinion. Wish I could bump up sensitivity to buy down risk for unknowing guests.

I don't know what else to say other than we're thrilled with this upgrade and would highly recommend it IF your space allows for it. We might get a screen at some point, and I have full confidence it will make the picture even better, but my anecdote is to highlight just how freakin bright and clear this thing is. You're unlikely to be disappointed unless you're unfun to be around.

I'm very happy we went with projectorscreen.com for the purchase because they were helpful and responsive all along the way! Admittedly I was a little concerned making such a big purchase with a company I hadn't heard of, but also like...have you been in a Best Buy recently? Yikes. I feel like I'm supporting a good business made of real people, and I know I probably seem like an insider shill but it's the truth.

Happy projecting!
